Crops and Vegetables

Maalich Farm has over 200 acres dedicated to growing of maize of 2 varieties:

  • Kinyaanya maize and Duma 43.

We also have Cowpeas, Fruits- (oranges, Pawpaw, apple mangoes, pineapple, Watermelon), Oilseeds (sunflower) and Vegetables.

Livestock

Maalich Farm engages in a unique and community- oriented livestock procurement strategy by purchasing cattle from neighboring communities and the expansive Northern Kenya regions. The acquired cattle undergo a careful process of selective interbreeding and fattening on our farm.

This approach not only contributes to the improvement of local livestock genetics but also ensures that the cattle are well-nourished and prepared for optimal market conditions.

Fodder & Hay

Maalich Farm envisions a comprehensive approach to livestock nutrition through the cultivation and processing of fodder. By strategically growing maize, cowpeas, and grass, we aim to produce a nutrient-rich blend that serves as the foundation for high-quality animal feed. Our innovative plan includes the production of animal feeding pellets, meticulously formulated for optimal nutritional content.

Not only does this initiative ensure a consistent and balanced diet for our livestock, but it also positions Maalich Farm to contribute to the local pastoralist community. Excess fodder and pellets will be made available for purchase at reduced prices, fostering a collaborative relationship with neighboring pastoralists.
